Long Beach Tofino: Vancouver Island’s Most Iconic Shoreline

Long Beach in Tofino is one of my personal favorite places on Vancouver Island. Known for its endless stretch of sand, powerful waves, and breathtaking sunsets, it’s a spot that keeps me coming back again and again.

Parking at Incinerator Rock

Whenever I visit Long Beach Tofino, I always try to park at Incinerator Rock. It’s the quickest access from the lot to the sand, and it feels like the heart of the beach. From there, you can take a short walk up the rock itself. The climb is easy and gives you a full 360-degree view of the surrounding area—waves crashing, surfers riding, and the endless shoreline stretching out in both directions.

Walking the Shoreline

My family has spent hours walking along Long Beach, simply taking in the scenery. The beach seems to go on forever, and every step offers something new—driftwood, tidal pools, and the ever-changing sound of the waves. Watching the sun set here is unforgettable, as the sky turns shades of gold and orange over the Pacific.

Surfing and Tailgating

Long Beach is also a hub for surfers. The consistent waves make it a great spot for both beginners and experienced surfers. Even if you don’t surf, it’s fun to sit back and watch the action. Many people also enjoy tailgating in the parking areas, making it a lively and social place, especially in the summer.

Why Long Beach Belongs on Your Vancouver Island Itinerary

Long Beach Tofino combines natural beauty, recreation, and community in one incredible destination. Whether you’re surfing, climbing Incinerator Rock, tailgating with friends, or just walking for hours with your family, it’s a place that feels both wild and welcoming. For me, it’s more than just a beach—it’s my favorite spot on Vancouver Island.
