Rainforest Trail Tofino: A Must Do West Coast Walk

The Rainforest Trail is easily one of my favourite walks to explore on the west coast. It is a short, easy trail that gets you right into the heart of the rainforest and is a must-do if you are visiting Tofino.

A Path Through the Rainforest

The trail follows a wooden boardwalk with many stairs and bridges that trace the natural curves of the forest floor. It feels like stepping into another world. Massive cedar and spruce trees surround you, the air is cool and damp, and the sound of dripping water echoes through the trees. There are countless spots to stop and take photos or simply stand still and breathe in the forest air.

Learning Along the Way

Throughout the walk, you will find interpretive signs sharing information about the rainforest’s ecosystem and history. It is a great trail for families because it combines learning with adventure. Kids can count the tree rings, look for banana slugs, or listen to birds in the canopy.

Take a Moment to Slow Down

What makes the Rainforest Trail special is how it reminds you to slow down. The scent of cedar, the green light filtering through the leaves, and the quiet of the forest all create a calm you do not find anywhere else. When was the last time you stopped and really smelled the forest?
