Today my family took a short drive from Nanaimo to Silver Meadows Farm Market in Errington, BC. It’s just a few minutes past Parksville and makes for an easy fall day trip with the kids.

A Free and Family-Friendly Pumpkin Patch
Entry to the pumpkin patch was free, and all the attractions were reasonably priced. It’s nice to find a place that keeps fall traditions affordable for families. We picked out five small, unique pumpkins for $12, which felt like a great deal considering the quality and variety.

Space to Explore and Play
There’s plenty of open green space at Silver Meadows Farm Market where the kids can run, play, and explore rows of bright orange pumpkins. We spent time walking around, taking family photos, and enjoying the crisp fall air. Between the scattered pumpkins and open fields, it’s the kind of spot that makes fall feel simple and fun.

Food and Local Flavours
The market also featured food trucks serving warm drinks and seasonal treats. Our favourite was One Cool Cookie, a local favourite that adds a fun dessert stop to the experience. Grabbing a treat after picking pumpkins was the perfect way to end the visit.
